........Famous
Italian Tenor David Sotgiu and Maestro Nat Yontararak will perform a
marvellous duo in the jewel hall Sala Sudasiri Sobha.
........David Sotgiu: graduated in oboe at the "Conservatorio Francesco Morlacchi" in Perugia, he dedicated his career to singing and won the 56? "European Community Competition for Young Opera Singers". Thanks to his artistry as tenor, he has had the opportunity to sing in many of the major Italian theatres and in important venues in Europe, such as those in Strasbourg, Geneva and Bern. Nat Yontararak: a Thai pianist originating from Bangkok, he won the first prize in the first Siam Music Festival in 1971 when he was just 16. After a degree in Architecture at the Chulalongkorn University he moved to London to further his studies on piano performance. He returned to Thailand in 1983 and set up his own studio and music school. Among his biggest achievements, the presentation at the United Nations of his piano sonata "Glory to Our Great Kings", as part of the commemoration of the 50th session of the UN General Assembly in October 1995. He was also given the Silpathorn Award for Thai contemporary artists in 2006. The Festival is organized with the aim of spreading in Thailand the best of the Italian culture. Indeed, we believe that the cooperation among the two countries develops through the mutual understanding and appreciation of each other's heritage and cultural identity. Now at its 11th consecutive edition, the Festival has received positive reviews throughout the years, and an ever growing recognition from the general public. All the events are organized thanks to the contribution of many private sponsors and are free entry upon registration. The Embassy of Italy deeply shares the grief of Thai People for the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the most beloved King of Thailand. In this spirit all entertaining events of the Italian Festival in Thailand 2016 have been cancelled. Only classical concerts have been confirmed, with a new, appropriate repertoire.
