A Bangkok Spa Oasis of Cultural Wellness and Exotic Beauty

.......On the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort offers a refreshing retreat from the bustle of the capital. In this rare oasis of flourishing gardens, lushly landscaped pathways lead to Anantara Spa, where true indulgence is inspired by Bangkok's unique blend of cultural heritage and modern global influences.
.......Rooted in Thailand, Anantara's philosophy, 'without end', stems from ancient Sanskrit origins and is richly expressed. World-class spa facilities blend evocative Thai design and comfortable luxury in nine private treatment suites. Two Anantara Suites for couples feature a large bathtub inside, and outside a private garden courtyard with an exotic rain shower and a traditional sala. Four Deluxe Rooms for individuals and couples offer garden views, and a further three Deluxe Rooms provide ambient spaces for traditional Thai massage. Steam rooms, a beauty salon and relaxation area extend the pampering possibilities.
Spa journeys meander back in time
.......The spa menu celebrates the timeless lifeline of the Chao Phraya River, which transported staples such as rice from the country's verdant paddies. In the three-phase Signature Rice Ritual, skin is polished with a Purifying Sri Nin Rice Scrub of antioxidants, nourishing B and E vitamins, essential oils of rosemary and frankincense to relieve mental fatigue and nervous tension, and rice bran oil for silky and supple skin. An Oriental Rice Compress Massage combines blended rice bran oil with traditional Thai pressure point and stretching techniques and a heated rice compress to melt away muscle tension, aches, pains and stress. To revitalise the complexion, the Anantara Signature Facial fuses nourishing plant extracts and traditional Thai ingredients.
.......Befitting the resort's location beside the River of Kings, the Royal Thai Massage incorporates acupressure techniques and works on the principle of energy pathways running through the entire body. The River Stone Back Massage uses warm, smooth river stones to tease out tension from the shoulders, neck and lower back. Water rituals include a Thai herbal steam, as well as milky, floral and mud baths.
.......Some of the oldest and most revered wellness cultures enjoy a thriving place in modern spa journeys. From the 5,000 year old natural science of Ayurveda in India, Shirobhyanga Massage uses warm coconut oil and focuses on the Marmas points of the head and neck to regulate the systems of mind and body. Originating from traditional Chinese medicine, a Foot Massage applies specific thumb, finger and hand techniques to various reflex points on the feet to stimulate organs in the upper body for holistic health. Capturing the therapeutic effects of Chinese tea, the Detoxifying Green Tea Scrub contains potent antibacterial and detoxifying qualities that polish and deep cleanse skin to be healthier, smoother and softer.
Results-driven treatments revitalise modern spa needs
.......Bangkok's cosmopolitan vibrancy is reflected in dynamic western therapies that combine advanced scientific techniques with the active power of nature. The Elemis Body Sculpting Cellulite & Colon Therapy redefines and smoothes the silhouette using a Body Sculpting Lipo-Refining Serum, Body Sculpting Firming Cream and a detoxifying Fennel and Birch
.......Body Mask, as well as specialist massage techniques to deeply cleanse and detoxify the body's systems, stimulate the circulation and reduce fluid retention. A collection of Elemis Advanced Anti-Ageing and Skin Specific Facials are personally prescribed to target individual complexion needs. Men's grooming includes the Total Time Out series, combining either the anti-ageing Elemis Skin IQ+ Facial or the Urban Cleanse Facial with the Elemis Deep Tissue Muscle Massage for immediate tension relief.
Romantic rituals, family pampering and balanced wellness
.......In a quiet corner of the resort's waterfront grounds, couples and honeymooners can indulge in a Secret Garden Romance, comprising a luxuriant massage and a tailored Dining by Design occasion with a personal chef and butler. A Private Manohra Spa Cruise whisks romantics away on a sunset river cruise aboard a magnificently restored antique rice barge, including sparkling wine, a relaxing massage and regal Thai dining.
.......Spa experiences reflect the family connections of Thai culture. The Elemis Nurturing Mother To Be connects mother and baby through the power of touch and is adapted to each stage of pregnancy. The Postpartum Massage focuses on restoring the abdominal muscle, realigning body weight and toning over-stretched skin. A children's spa menu pampers little ones with fun treats such as a Strawberry & Vanilla Bubble Bath, a Chocolate & Orange Blossom Oil Massage and Rock Star Facial. Family packages let parents and youngsters share spa time, with special combinations for mother and daughter, and father and son.
.......Depicting how wellness permeates many elements of daily life in Thailand, Anantara's Balance concept offers a range of experiences for health and wellbeing. Private sessions and extended programmes can be booked with holistic healing practitioners. Raw juice and wellness cuisine menus keep guests feeling good from the inside out. Private fitness and health conditioning sessions can incorporate Muay Thai kick boxing, yoga and pilates.
At Anantara Spa, the greatest journeys are felt, not told.
