................

|
.......Seoul,
Republic of Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General KIM Young-sun)
will hold the 'Product Development Workshop: Enhancing the Global Competitive
Edge of Thai Fashion Industry' in cooperation with the Department of
International Trade Promotion (DITP) of Thailand and the Thai Garment
Manufacturing Association (TGMA) from 20 to 23 July 2015 at the Department
of International Trade Promotion, Seminar Hall, in Bangkok, Thailand.
.......Under the theme 'Brand Creation and Development for Fashion Lifestyle by Korean Experts,' approximately 100 participants including members of Thai Garment Manufacturing Association, related government officials, and designers, will be attending a 4-day intensive training course. Professional experts from Korea in the fashion industry have been invited as lecturers to share their knowledge and skills of the Korean fashion industry through a combination of lectures and practical hands-on training sessions. .......Representing ASEAN's trade, tourism, and shopping hub, Thailand has recently emerged as an attractive market for the European and Asian fashion market. In order to strengthen the competitiveness of Thai fashion industry to compete in the global market, they need to strengthen capacity-building in product development in brand creation and fashion that is tailored to the needs of a wide range of consumers. Therefore, this workshop aims to introduce methods to improve the added value of the clothing industry through the development of a fashion brand, as well as Korea's e-commerce systems that are applicable to fashion businesses. .......H.E Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, stated, "The forthcoming launch of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) will have a great impact on ASEAN's economic integration including its regional production networks. In this integration process, SMEs might be placed at a disadvantageous position, hampered by numerous resource constraints. Therefore, we need to take various measures to enhance the competitive edge of SMEs in the global value chain. I hope that this workshop will play a positive role in strengthening the competitiveness of Thai fashion industry, as well as in facilitating the process of building up the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)." .......Since the inception of the ASEAN-Korea Centre in 2009, continuous efforts have been made to further reinforce capacity building for the ASEAN Member States in various industrial sectors. This workshop will be of great significance, since it is the first-ever workshop to be held in the fashion sector, a creative and high-value added industry. |
