|
........Neta
Elkayam (lead singer) was born and raised in the southern town of Netivot
to a family of Maghreb origin. She now works and lives in Jerusalem.
Her father, born in Tinghir, and mother from Casablanca, the spirit
of Morocco flows naturally in her blood. Having graduated with honors
from the "Key" School of Arts, she shares her talents and
experience with her high-school art students in Jerusalem. Neta has
woven singing and music into her art pieces, exhibited in several galleries
in Israel/Palestine. Neta inherited her Moroccan Arabic from her grandmother,
and her knowledge of the language continues to grow today through Moroccan
music, brought by the big Jewish community that migrated from Maghreb.
Her life in Jerusalem today is rooted in Moroccan culture, art and music.
Performing often throughout the country, she has sung on stage with
well-known artists such as Maurice El Madioni and Nino Biton. Her audience
spans across the Mediterranean Sea from Paris to Jerusalem to Casablanca.
