........The
search for the new rising star in fashion design is about to get even
hotter, as the winners who each represents their own country come together
to compete for the title of Asia's best new designer, creating a new
wave in the fashion industry.
........Media Expertise International (Thailand) Co., Ltd takes part in the excitement by welcoming four rising stars from four countries to compete in the first "HARPER'S BAZAAR Asia New Generation Fashion Designer Award", a regional competition participated by new talents from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, to win a master's degree scholarship in fashion in the UK worth over a million baht. The competition is a part of Bangkok International Fashion Week 2013 (BIFW) which will kick off on November 7 at Parc Paragon, officially sponsored by Cotto and Fuji Japanese restaurant. |

........The
first HARPER'S BAZAAR Asia New Generation Fashion Designer Award, the
regional round, is honored by HARPER'S BAZZAR editors namely Ria Lirungan,
editor-in-chief from Indonesia; Wannaporn 'Duang' Poshyanonda, editor-in-chief
from Thailand, and Kenneth Goh, creative director of HARPER'S BAZAAR
from Singapore and Malaysia, as well as Malcolm Mcinnes, director of
Istituto Marangoni, UK and Ph.D. Anothai Cholachatpinyo, head of Department
of Textile Science, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University,
who will be on the judging panel in this regional competition.
........Ph.D. Titikorn Theerapatvong, CEO of Media Expertise International (Thailand) Co., Ltd, said that this event is a special collaboration among HARPER'S BAZAAR Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, to prepare for the endless opportunities that will come with the AEC in 2015. The event also serves to be a platform for Thai and ASEAN designers to strengthen their skills by local and regional integrating fashion elements. |

event comes from HARPER'S BAZAAR's intention to develop new talents
in the fashion industry. This campaign comes from our vision that the
AEC will be in effect in two years, and Thai designers will enjoy bigger
markets. However, with bigger markets comes higher competition, so there
is a need for ASEAN's fashion industry to grow together. HARPER'S BAZAAR
has a worldwide network and we have discussed the potential of HARPER'S
BAZAAR Asia New Generation Fashion Designer Award to find the best new
designer from each country. In its first year, the event is participated
by four countries namely Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
We aim that following great feedback this year, there will be more participating
countries in the future."

'Duang' Poshyanonda, editor-in-chief of HARPER'S BAZAAR Thailand, said
of the criteria to find the best new designer with skills in fashion
design and business development. "This competition will elevate
the fashion industry. HARPER'S BAZAAR is searching for the new rising
stars for the industry and we aim that they will be successful internationally.
More importantly, the winner's work will be featured in HARPER'S BAZZAR
magazine in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, in addition to Thailand."
........"The concept of BIFW this year is Future is Asia, and we want to show the world that Thailand and Asia has the potential to be the leader of the fashion industry. The objective of the event, which is collaboration among HARPER'S BAZAAR in four countries, is to find new talents and to take the region's fashion industry to another step. This year, we are organizing the first ever HARPER'S BAZAAR Asia New Generation Fashion Designer Award to find the winner from each country to compete in the regional round in the Bangkok International Fashion Week 2013 (BIFW) in Thailand." The four contestants are requested to send their sketches for the Capsule Collection, 15 styles of women's wear in total, under the concept Ready to Wear for Spring/Summer 2014, along with business plan, branding strategies, launching event, target group, pricing, production, marketing plans and timeline. The judging criteria include creativity and aesthetic aspect of the design (70%) and business plan (30%). ........Representing the official sponsor of the event, Rawiwan Tanaka, marketing director of Fuji Group, said, "We are sponsoring this search for new designers because we aim to expand our target group. Usually, Fuji enjoys a diverse group of customers, and being a part of this project reaffirms that Fuji is not just about food, but we are also interested in design. Our restaurant and food decoration is our unique point, and we will make a food installation in the event, which is our first time. For this event, we are fortunate to have the most promising fashion designers from 3 brands working with us, namely Chamnan Pakdeesuk of Fly Now, Jesse Dorsey and Wannasiri Kongman of Boyy and Platt Pladhi of 4x4 Man, who will create fun and interesting food to decorate the BIFW venue on November 7 at Paragon. The wonderfully displayed food will still retain Fuji's character." ........Another official sponsor, represented by Parapapah Atcharanukul, brand communication manager of Cotto, said, "It is a great opportunity for Cotto to be a part of the search for new rising stars in our fashion industry. The creations will be done by three of the most recognized artists in Thailand including Wannaporn 'Duang' Poshyanonda, Pansiri Siriwechapan and Milin Yuvacharaskul, through clothes and accessories that showcase their ideas." ........Thailand's representative, Jatupong Metula from Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep, named his creation "The Whispering", inspired by mural painting in Nan province. He interpreted Thai textile in a creative angle to present Thainess in a contemporary manner. Wiruwan Nhuyung, a freelance designer, is Thailand's runner up. Her work mixes impressionistic art with feminine beauty and flowers in the collection "EN Garden". Witness the grandeur of this regional collaboration among three top companies in Thailand and cheer on Thai designer to rise as a regional star in the search for Asia's best new designer at the first "HARPER'S BAZAAR Asia New Generation Fashion Designer Award", to win a scholarship worth over a million baht.
